GAWA members are committed to addressing the most critical environmental issues affecting the region. Each of the six core issues represent unique challenges to the regions environment and require dedicated organisations and strategies to address them. The following pages provide a more focussed look at the respective issues and provide resources for members and others who are seeking to help create positive change. The six core issues are:

  1. Forests
  2. Marine and Coastal Resources
  3. Mining
  4. Renewable Energy
  5. Waste Management / Pollution
  6. Water Resources and River Basis

In addition GAWA members are striving to ensure that the cross cutting issue of gender is mainstreamed into natural resource management. By developing effective strategies and partnerships to address these core issues GAWA members will be prepared to tackle future emerging issues and challenges.
